The 2nd Conference - 2023
The 3rd conference - 2025

The 1st CDT conference explored the ideas of the future of prosthetic and orthotic research and took place virtually from 1st Dec 2021 to 2nd Dec 2021.

"In the future, the number of people requiring prosthetics and orthotics services is bound to rise because both the world’s population and life expectancy are growing. In many countries, and not only in low and middle-income countries, only 5–15% of the people who could benefit from assistive products have access to them, including prostheses and orthoses. Barriers hampering access to prosthetic and orthotic services are numerous and the biggest challenge, in the future, facing the prosthetics and orthotics ecosystem is how to address these barriers to ensure that a greater number of peoples have access to appropriate and quality of services."

This conference was organised and hosted entirely by the students of the EPSRC Centre of Doctoral Training (CDT) in Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O).

The EPSRC Centre of Doctoral Training (CDT) in Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O) was established in 2019 to train up to a total of 60 individuals to a doctoral level over an 8-year period. This centre combines expertise from the University of Salford, Imperial College London, the University of Strathclyde and the University of Southampton, along with more than 25 global industry partners and national facilities.
